G is for Giving
Over the year, we look to local and global needs are find many different ways to raise money for charities. We recognise that a small amount donated by many, soon adds up and we can make a difference! At Poplars Farm, every pupil belongs to one of four local charities linked to environmental concerns. Instead of house points, pupils earn 'team merit points' over the school year (for demonstrating GROW values, achieving and break through moments in learning), At he end of the year the team with the most points receives a cheque for £100, with the other three receiving £50 each. In 2022-23, the Woodland Trust were the overall champions! Well done Woodland Trust!
Meet our very special four legged friend, Poplar
Last year a little Poplar was born in Kabul, Afghanistan at the Kabul Small Animal Rescue (KSAR) charity. His name immediately drew us to him!
It soon became clear that Poplar had rare medical needs, he needed life saving treatment on his spine. Thanks to a group of Year 5 pupils and teachers, we held chocolate egg raffles and donated the money raised to help Poplar receive the traetment he needed.
His jouney began... from Charlotte in Kabul to Chris in the USA, many kind people along the way helped him, including the amazing neurologist who saved his life. Poplar has just celebrated his 1st birthday.
We will continue to follow him as he grows up, now living with another rescued dog called Deana and their human, Chris in the USA. We look forward to the day he can take his first steps, using a special doggy wheelchair for his back legs.
"We're very grateful for Poplars Farm pupils' interest and kindness. Thank you from Poplar's family... " Chris, Poplar's adoptor
Please write down any questions you may have about Poplar and we will make sure that they get sent over. Any updates we receive will be added to this page.
